David Carter is the co-founding partner of Grechi Carter. His practice if focused in residential and commercial real estate law, where he has helped hundreds of clients in purchasing, selling and mortgaging their properties. David enjoys advising clients on structuring various real estate related business opportunities including real estate development, mortgage brokering, mortgage syndications, and establishing and administering mortgage trusts. David also works with Landlords and Tenants to help draft, negotiate or interpret commercial leases.
David completed his J.D. law degree at Queen’s University, which included a certificate in International Public Law at Herstmonceaux Castle, in East Sussex, England. Before attending Queen’s, David received a B.A. from McGill University with a double major in Economics and History.
David has participated in multiple legal moots (litigation competitions), including the 2010 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, where he received an Honourable Mention for Best Individual Oralist out of over a thousand competitors.
After completing his law degree, David worked at a major law firm in downtown Toronto where he gained experience in various complex commercial matters, both from the transactional and litigation perspective.
David has worked on simple and multifaceted commercial litigation claims, with a focus on real estate and estates litigation.
David also enjoys teaching and mentoring and worked prior to practicing law as a teacher for Kaplan Prep Test, preparing and teaching various courses and seminars on the Law School Acceptance Test. David was chosen as Kaplan’s featured LSAT instructor for the City of Montreal.
